die Höfner 175 – Ein übersichtlicher Allrounder

Mit der Höfner 175 betrat Höfner damals neues Terrain und schuf ein Modell, das den Sound zahlloser Beat-, Surf- und Rock-’n’-Roll-Bands der 1960er-Jahre mitprägte. Gleichzeitig legte sie den Grundstein für die späteren Höfner-E-Gitarren dieser Modellreihe. Ausgestattet mit drei der berühmten Höfner Franz Pix 511 „Nova Sonic“-Humbuckern bietet die 175 eine beeindruckende klangliche Vielseitigkeit und eignet sich für nahezu jede gängige Musikrichtung. Diese Gitarre ist eine von drei seltenen Brokat-Ladys, die ich aktuell in meinem Shop anbieten kann. Mit ihrem außergewöhnlich schönen Brokat-Vinylbezug und der von mir mit viel Liebe zum Detail durchgeführten Restaurierung ist sie nicht nur ein faszinierendes Sammlerstück, sondern vor allem ein Instrument, das darauf wartet, wieder gespielt zu werden und auf der Bühne zu glänzen.

Diese Höfner 175 stammt aus dem Jahr 1963 und weist dem Alter entsprechende Gebrauchsspuren auf. Trotz ihrer über 60 Jahre befindet sie sich in einem außergewöhnlich schönen und gepflegten Zustand. Lack, Hardware und Kunststoffteile zeigen die üblichen Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren. Der Halslack weist einige feine Haarrisse und Abnutzungen auf, glänzt jedoch nach wie vor sehr schön. Das Vinyl ist super erhalten, liegt überall sauber an und strahlt nach der Restaurierung wieder in schönem Glanz. Altersbedingt hat es stellenweise Verfärbungen oder fehlende Farbe. Auch der umlaufende Keder sitzt noch sauber an. Das seltene rote Celluloid-Schlagbrett zeigt Gebrauchsspuren, ist jedoch rissfrei und sehr gut erhalten. Die Beschriftung ist ebenfalls noch gut lesbar. Der Hals-Tonabnehmer wurden von mir fachgerecht neu gewickelt. Dabei verwende ich den gleichen Drahttyp, das gleiche Tape- und Kreppmaterial, die identische Windungsrichtung, die originale Windungszahl sowie dieselbe Montagetechnik wie Höfner damals. Das Ergebnis ist ein authentischer Klang ohne hörbaren Unterschied zu originalen Pickups. Sämtliche Tonabnehmer, Schalter und Potentiometer funktionieren einwandfrei. Die Elektronik ist original erhalten.

Die Gitarre erhielt von mir eine umfassende Komplettüberholung. Dabei wurden Lack und Vinyl gründlich gereinigt, desinfiziert und aufpoliert. Die Mechaniken wurden vollständig zerlegt, gereinigt, poliert und neu geschmiert. Ebenso wurde jede einzelne Schraube ausgebaut, gereinigt und aufbereitet. Das Vibrato wurde zerlegt, überarbeitet und neu geschmiert. Die komplette Elektrik wurde gereinigt, geprüft und die Erdung kontrolliert. Der Hals wurde optimal eingestellt, um eine hervorragende Saitenlage zu erreichen. Griffbrett und Bünde wurden abgerichtet, gereinigt, behandelt, geölt und poliert.

The Höfner 175 – A Straightforward All-Round Performer

With the Höfner 175, Höfner ventured into new territory and created a model that helped shape the sound of countless Beat, Surf and Rock ’n’ Roll bands throughout the 1960s. At the same time, it laid the foundation for the later guitars of Höfner’s iconic solid-body series. Equipped with three legendary Höfner Franz Pix 511 „Nova Sonic“ humbuckers, the 175 offers remarkable tonal versatility and feels equally at home in almost any musical style. This guitar is one of three rare „Brocade Ladies“ currently available in my shop. With its stunning brocade vinyl covering and a meticulous restoration carried out by me with great attention to every detail, it is not only a fascinating collector’s piece but, above all, an instrument waiting to be played again and to shine on stage.

This Höfner 175 was built in 1963 and naturally shows age-related signs of use. Despite being more than 60 years old, it remains in exceptionally well-preserved condition. The finish, hardware and plastic parts display the honest wear expected from a vintage instrument of this age. The neck finish shows a few fine checking lines and areas of wear but still retains a beautiful gloss. The original vinyl covering is in excellent condition, sits securely all around and looks fantastic after restoration. As expected with a guitar of this age, there are a few areas of discoloration and some spots where the original colour has faded. The binding is also intact and securely attached throughout.

The rare red celluloid pickguard shows normal playing wear but remains crack-free and very well preserved, with all lettering still clearly legible.

The neck pickup has been professionally rewound by me. During the process I use the same type of magnet wire, the same tape and crepe materials, the original winding direction, the original number of turns and the same construction techniques used by Höfner in the 1960s. The result is an authentic vintage tone with no audible difference compared to an original factory-wound pickup.

All pickups, switches and potentiometers function perfectly. The electronics remain original.

This guitar has received a comprehensive professional restoration and full service. The finish and vinyl were thoroughly cleaned, disinfected and polished. The tuners were completely disassembled, cleaned, polished and lubricated. Every single screw was removed, cleaned and refurbished. The vibrato unit was fully disassembled, restored and lubricated. The entire electronics system was cleaned, inspected and checked for proper grounding. The neck was carefully adjusted for an excellent low action. The fingerboard and frets were leveled, cleaned, conditioned, oiled and polished.

The guitar has been professionally set up with accurate intonation and is ready to play.
