Eines der besten Gitarrenmodelle überhaupt – die Höfner 176!

Das sind die 60er. Das ist Surf. Das ist Rock ’n’ Roll!

Die Höfner 176 bietet all das, was man bei der 172, 173 und 175 vermisst. Die Schaltung ist ebenso raffiniert wie leicht zu verstehen und eröffnet eine enorme klangliche Vielfalt. Lieblingssounds sind schnell gefunden – eher hat man die Qual der Wahl, welchen Klang man als Nächstes spielen möchte.

Ausgestattet mit drei der berühmten Höfner Franz Pix 511 „Nova Sonic“ Humbuckern liefert die Gitarre eine beeindruckende Flexibilität und eignet sich für nahezu jede Musikrichtung. Die frisch aufgezogenen Nickel Classic Saiten runden das Spielgefühl perfekt ab.

Diese Höfner 176 stammt aus dem Jahr 1965 und präsentiert sich in der seltenen Originalfarbe Tocotronic – einer der außergewöhnlichsten und begehrtesten Farbvarianten dieser Modellreihe. Sie weist dem Alter entsprechende Gebrauchsspuren auf, befindet sich jedoch trotz ihrer über 60 Jahre in einem außergewöhnlich schönen und gepflegten Zustand. Lack, Hardware und Kunststoffteile zeigen die üblichen Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren wie feine Haarrisse und leichte Abnutzungen. Nach der Restaurierung glänzt jedoch wieder alles in hervorragendem Zustand. Das seltene weiße Celluloid-Schlagbrett weist ebenfalls Gebrauchsspuren auf, ist jedoch rissfrei und sehr gut erhalten. Auch die Beschriftung ist noch hervorragend lesbar.

Alle drei Tonabnehmer wurden von mir fachgerecht neu gewickelt. Dabei verwende ich den gleichen Drahttyp, das gleiche Tape- und Kreppmaterial, die identische Windungsrichtung, die originale Windungszahl sowie dieselbe Montagetechnik wie Höfner damals. Das Ergebnis ist ein authentischer Klang ohne hörbaren Unterschied zu originalen Pickups. Sämtliche Tonabnehmer, Schalter und Potentiometer funktionieren einwandfrei. Die komplette Elektronik ist original erhalten. Das Griffbrett wurde abgerichtet, sodass eine angenehm flache Saitenlage möglich ist.

Die Gitarre erhielt von mir eine umfassende Komplettüberholung. Dabei wurde der Lack gründlich gereinigt, desinfiziert und aufpoliert. Die Mechaniken wurden vollständig zerlegt, gereinigt, poliert und neu geschmiert. Ebenso wurde jede einzelne Schraube ausgebaut, gereinigt und aufbereitet. Das Vibrato wurde vollständig überarbeitet und neu geschmiert. Die komplette Elektrik wurde gereinigt, geprüft und die Erdung kontrolliert. Der Hals wurde optimal eingestellt, um eine hervorragende Saitenlage zu erreichen. Griffbrett und Bünde wurden abgerichtet, gereinigt, behandelt, geölt und poliert.

Die Höfner 176 ist bundrein eingestellt, sofort spielbereit und bereit für viele weitere Jahrzehnte Musik.

One of the Finest Guitar Models Ever Made – the Höfner 176!

The Höfner 176 offers everything that is missing from the 172, 173 and 175 models. Its switching system is both ingenious and easy to understand, providing an incredible range of tonal possibilities. Finding your favourite sound is easy – the real challenge is deciding which one to play next.

Equipped with three legendary Höfner Franz Pix 511 „Nova Sonic“ humbuckers, this guitar delivers remarkable versatility and is equally at home in almost any musical style. A fresh set of Nickel Classic strings completes the playing experience perfectly.

This Höfner 176 was built in 1965 and comes finished in the rare original Tocotronic colour – one of the most distinctive and sought-after finishes ever offered on this model. Naturally, it shows signs of use consistent with its age, yet despite being more than 60 years old it remains in exceptionally beautiful and well-preserved condition. The finish, hardware and plastic parts display the typical signs of age, including minor checking and light wear. Following its restoration, however, the entire instrument presents beautifully once again. The rare white celluloid pickguard also shows some signs of use but is free from cracks and remains in excellent condition. The lettering is still remarkably crisp and clearly legible.

All three pickups have been professionally rewound by me. During the process I use the same wire type, the same tape and crepe materials, the original winding direction, the correct number of turns and the same construction methods that Höfner used back in the 1960s. The result is an authentic vintage tone with no audible difference from original pickups. All pickups, switches and potentiometers work flawlessly. The entire electronics remain original. The fingerboard has been professionally levelled, allowing for a comfortably low action.

The guitar has undergone a comprehensive full restoration. The finish was carefully cleaned, disinfected and machine polished. The tuners were completely disassembled, cleaned, polished and freshly lubricated. Every single screw was removed, cleaned and refurbished. The vibrato unit was fully overhauled and lubricated. The complete electronics were cleaned, inspected and the grounding was checked. The neck was precisely adjusted for an excellent playing action. The fretboard and frets were levelled, cleaned, conditioned, oiled and polished.

The Höfner 176 has been professionally set up with accurate intonation, is ready to play and prepared for many more decades of making music.
