1963 Höfner 175 Rot Vinyl

Zur Abgabe kommt eine schöne Höfner 175 im schönen Rot Vinyl mit den toll klingenden Franz Pix 511 Nova Sonic Pickups aus dem Jahre 1963. Eines der letzten 175 mit dem neueren Steg bevor dann die 176 das Model ablöste. Besonders selten ist das grüne Celuloid Schlagbrett, dass hier zudem zusammen mit der Vibrato-Fach Abdeckung und Kopfplatten Verkleidung im absolut Unbeschädigten Zustand ist. Ich durfte den Besitzer der Gitarre kennenlernen, der mir viel über Sie erzählt hat und diese Gitarre wurde über Jahrzehnte sehr viel gespielt – Das sieht man Ihr an, aber sie klingt einfach pur nach Rock n Roll und macht richtig richtig Laune zu spielen und ist jetzt nach der Restaurierung sehr schön geworden!

Die 175 ist von 1963! Entsprechend hat Sie Gebrauchsspuren! Es finden sich trotz des Alters dennoch Gebrauchsspuren auf Vinyl, Hardware und Kunststoff. Das Vinyl ist in einem sehr guten Zustand – Nirgends gerissen und liegt nahezu überall an. Am unteren Cutaway gibt es eine Stelle, wo das Vinyl etwas geschrumpft ist. Das Binding liegt ebenfalls ringsherum am Korpus an, hat ein paar Seitliche Abplatzer an einigen Stellen, sollte auf den Bildern gut zu erkennen sein. Das seltene Celuloid Schlagbrett hat Abnutzungen und Gebrauchsspuren, ist aber noch super erhalten. Die Beschriftung auf dem Schlagbrett ist noch gut leserlich. Die Tonabnehmer sind im Originalzustand. Alle Tonabnehmer funktionieren, sowie jeder Schalter und Drehpoti. Die Elektronik ist Original. Ich habe nachträglich eine Erdung zur Vibrato-Platte gemacht, so wie es bei späteren Höfner Modellen Standard war. Der Hals zeigt deutliche Gebrauchsspuren im Lackbild und ist über die Jahre von Weiß in dieses Creme-Gelb verfärbt. Der Hals ist gerade, abgerichtet und eingestellt. Die Bünde haben noch gut Material und eine Neubundierung ist noch nicht erforderlich. Der Vibratohebel war ist etwas verbogen gewesen und ist wieder in die original Form gebogen worden. In der Vergangenheit hat die Höfner 175 einen Killswitch für den Mittel-Tonabnehmer bekommen. Ich habe solche Modifikationen schon öfter an 173 und 175 Gitarren aus der Zeit gesehen und komischerweise, sitzen diese Schalter immer an den selben Stellen. Es muss noch herausgefunden werden, ob dies Höfner sogar selbst gemacht hat oder es einen Tuner in der Vergangenheit gab, der diese Umbauten gemacht hat oder ob es einmal in einem Magazin abgedruckt war. Ist verdächtig, aber bis dahin nur Spekulation.

Die 175 hat von mir eine umfassende Überholung bekommen. Das Vinyl wurde von mir umfassend gereinigt, desinfiziert und aufpoliert. Mechaniken wurden gereinigt, poliert und neu geschmiert. Vibrato zerlegt, aufbereitet und neu geschmiert. Gesamte Elektrik behandelt, gereinigt und geprüft. Der Hals eingestellt für eine super Saitenlage. Griffbrett und Bünde abgerichtet, gesäubert, behandelt, geölt und Geschliffen. Die 175 ist Bundrein und eingestellt.

Up for sale is a Höfner 175 in beautiful red vinyl with the great sounding Franz Pix 511 Nova Sonic pickups from 1963. One of the last 175 with the newer bridge before the 176 replaced this model. The green celuloid pickguard is particularly rare as it is in an absolutely undamaged condition together with the vibrato-plate cover and headstock veneer. I got to know the owner of this guitar who told me a lot about it and this guitar has been played a lot for decades – you can tell by looking at it, but it just sounds like rock n roll and is really fun to play and is now very nice after the restoration!

The 175 is from 1963! Accordingly it has signs of use! Despite the age there are still traces of use on vinyl, hardware and plastic. The vinyl is in very good condition – nowhere torn and is almost everywhere fit on the body. There is a spot on the lower cutaway where the vinyl has shrunk a bit. The binding fits also all around the body, has a few side chips in some places, should be clearly visible in the pictures. The rare celuloid pickguard has signs of wear and tear, but is still in great condition. The lettering on the pickguard is still legible. The pickups are in their original condition. All pickups work, as well as every switch and potentiometer. The electronics are original. I made a grounding at the vibrato plate, as it was standard with later Höfner models. The neck shows clear signs of wear in the paintwork and has been discolored from white to this creamy yellow over the years. The neck is straight, dressed and set up. The frets still have good material and a refret is not yet necessary. The vibrato arm was slightly bent and has been bent back into its original shape. In the past the Höfner 175 got a kill switch for the middle pickup. I’ve seen such modifications on 173 and 175 guitars from that time and strangely enough these switches are always in the same place. It still has to be found out whether Höfner even did this himself or whether there was a tuner in the past who made these conversions or whether it was once printed in a magazine. Is suspicious, but until then only speculation.

I gave the 175 a major overhaul. The vinyl was cleaned, disinfected and polished up by me. The vibrato was completely dismantled, cleaned, prepared and re-lubricated by me. Runs nice and smooth. Mechanisms have been cleaned, polished and re-lubricated. All electrics treated, cleaned and checked. The neck adjusted for a great action. Fretboard and frets dressed, cleaned, treated, oiled and sanded. The 175 is ocatve clean and setuped.
