Voller Stolz darf ich euch heute diese tolle Gitarre vorstellen – Eine Höfner 188 Baritone Gitarre! Ein unglaublich tolles Stück was Höfner 1965 gefertigt hat und die Sunburst Lackierung verleiht der Gitarre eine absolute Rock n Roll Optik! Ich bin ja ein sehr großer Fan der 176, aber die Baritone verpasst dem ganzen noch einmal ein Sahnehäubchen. Die Baritone Gitarre bietet eine vielfältige Tonvariation – Die Pickups können einzeln angesprochen werden oder gemeinsam die Wände zum Wackeln bringen. Jeder Tonabnehmer kann individuell in der Lautstärke angepasst werden. Tollerweise hat die Gitarre auch den Solo/Rhythm Schalter, welcher noch weitere Toneinstellungen mit sich bringt – Favoriten lassen sich da schnell finden und man kämpft mit der Qual der Wahl welchen Ton man gerade spielen möchte 🙂 Selten ist hier vor allem, dass die Baritone-Gitarre quasi identisch wie eine 176 ausgerüstet ist! Normalerweise fehlt mindestens der 5 Fach Wahlschalter. Der Sound ist extrem drückend, vor allem der Hals-Tonabnehmer und es macht wahnsinnig spaß, diese Baritone-Gitarre zu spielen – Wirklich, der Hals ist trotz seiner Dicke aber sehr schön und schnell zu spielen.
Die Höfner 188 Baritone-Gitarre ist von 1965! Entsprechend hat Sie Gebrauchsspuren dem Alter entsprechend! Der Lack hat feine Risse, welche aber solide am Korpus haften und der Baritone nur eine Vintage Optik verleihen, die woanders für viel Geld künstlicher erkauft werden muss. Hier und da gibt es Abnutzungserscheinungen, auch an den Seiten, eben Gebrauchsspuren die nach so einer langen Lebensdauer eines Instrumentes anfallen. Eine Stelle am Griffbrettbinding wurde repariert und ist nur beim genauen betrachten zu erkennen. 2 Tuner sind ausgetauscht worden, gegen optisch ähnliche. Dennoch kann man hier von einem echt super Zustand sprechen und keiner gebrochenen Stelle an Pickguard und Vibrato-Abdeckung. Selbst die Beschriftung am schwarzen Pickguard ist noch sehr gut erhalten und nicht verwischt. Alle Tonabnehmer funktionieren, sowie jeder Schalter und Drehpoti. Mit Ihren nur 3,16 kg, gehört diese Baritone-Gitarre definitiv zu den leichteren Modellen, ich habe schon deutlich schwere gehabt, sogar 176er die kleiner sein.
Die 188 hat von mir eine umfassende Komplett-Überholung bekommen. Ich war wirklich überall dran und habe alles kontrolliert, gesäubert und behandelt. Das Vibrato und Mechaniken wurden gereinigt und neu geschmiert. Gesamte Elektrik behandelt und gereinigt. Der Hals eingestellt für eine gute Saitenlage für die derzeit aufgezogenen 13-62 D‘Addario Baritone XL Saiten. Ich habe die Gitarre auf die Stimmung B-E-A-D-F#-B eingestellt, kann ich aber auch auf ein anderes Tuning einstellen. Griffbrett und Bünde wurden gesäubert, behandelt, geölt, abgerichtet und poliert.

Today I proudly introduce you to this great guitar – a Höfner 188 Baritone guitar! An unbelievably great piece of Guitar what Höfner made back in 1965 and the Sunburst lacquer gives this baritone an insane speed optic! I’m a big fan of the 176, but the baritone misses the icing on the cake again. The guitar offers a variety of tone variation – the pickups can be selected individually or together to make the walls shake. Each pickup can be individually adjusted in volume. Its great taht the guitar also has the solo / rhythm switch, which brings more sound with it – favorites can be found there quickly and you fight with the agony of choice which sound you just want to play 🙂 Above all, it is rare that the guitar is almost identical to a 176! Usually at least the 5 way selector switch is missing. The sound is extremely oppressive, specially the neck pickup and it is a crazy fun to play this guitar guitar – Really, the neck, despite its thickness, is very nice and fast to play.
The Höfner 188 baritone guitar is from 1965! Accordingly, it has traces of use according to the age! The lacquer is overlooked with cracks, which adhere solidly to the body and only give the guitar a vintage look that has to be bought elsewhere for a lot of money to have this look. Here and there there are signs of wear, also on the sides, just signs of wear and tear that occur after such a long life of an instrument. A place on the fretboard binding has been repaired and can only be seen when you look closely. 2 tuners have been replaced by optically similar ones. Nevertheless, you can speak of a really great condition and no broken spots on the pickguard and vibrato cover. Even the lettering on the black pickguard is still very well preserved and not blurred. All pickups work, as well as every switch and potentiometer. At only 3.16 kg, this guitar is definitely one of the lighter models, I’ve already had significantly heavier ones, even 176s which are smaller.
The 188 got a complete overhaul from me. I was really tuned in and controlled, cleaned and treated everything. The vibrato and tuners were cleaned and re-lubricated. Entire electrics treated and cleaned. The neck set for a good string action for the currently mounted D‘Addario Baritone XL strings. I setuped the baritone guitar for a B-E-A-D-F#-B tuning, but i can change this for you. Just let me know. Fingerboard and frets cleaned, treated, oiled, sanded and polished.
The guitar is ready to Rock n Roll and I’m really reluctant to give it away! A very cool thing!
